East Grand Rapids is a city in Kent County, Michigan first settled in the early 1830s by the Reed Family of New York. The Reed family is responsible for starting the community of East Grand Rapids, having opened a school in 1834 near Reeds Lake. By the 1920s through 1950s a major expansion of neighborhoods took place – adding a nice mix of suburban living close to the cit.
